This past Sunday evening, Lake Community Church held our Annual Lake Partners Meeting to present for approval, a Proposed Budget for 2021, and to present for approval our acting Lake Leadership Team for 2021. This was the first Annual Meeting that we have held In-person and by a ZOOM Video feed. Kinda cool to have people In-person to hear and respond to the Budget proposal, and to have folks watching from home; still able to ask questions, make comments, and even vote. I can honestly say, it was different, but it achieved the same result. People got to hear and see the changes made to our Financial Budget for 2021, and the explanations for those changes. I thank everyone who participated in the Meeting and approved both the Budget for 2021 and our Lake Leadership Team for 2021.
Now, it’s time for The Lake to get back to business. And that business is:
Refocusing on our call as a church body; to be active in being the church in the community around us; at the schools we attend; the places we work; the places we venture out to; restaurants, shopping, relaxing. 2020 has been a year where just about everything we enjoyed doing together was placed on hold. We are now in 2021, and unless we accept the challenges to change things in our life for the better; meaning, growing closer to God in our everyday by reading and consuming His Word, praying continually, seeking Him in all situations and circumstances; being obedient to His call on our life as a believer; connecting with other believers for support and encouragement; inviting others into an eternal relationship with God through Jesus Christ…unless we’re seeing a change in us, this year will be a carbon copy of last year. And, if it is…then we’re not growing. We’re not being who God called us to be. We’re not being the body of Christ; the church. We are not making a difference in our season of life.
The challenge for us in 2021 is to find all the ways we can change in our relationship with God; embrace those changes; accept those challenges, and be the light we were designed and called to be. 2021 has been given to us, by God, as a challenge to change; to make a difference in our life and the lives of others.
Do we dare accept the challenge? (I can’t answer that for you)
2020 Contribution Statements
On a lighter note…the 2020 Contribution Statements have been sent out by email. If you have made a contribution to The Lake; either by cash, check, or Online Giving through Planning Center, or the Church Center App on your phone, you should have received your 2020 Contribution Statement yesterday. If you used Rebel Give for your Online Giving, you can visit your Rebel Give account and download your 2020 Contribution Statement. Be sure to do this before January 31st. If you did not receive your 2020 Contribution Statement this week, please contact us at 980-643-4200 and we will help you with getting your Statement.
We are offering two “Masks Required” Worship Gatherings at 9:30 and 11:00am this Sunday. I hope you can join us In-Person or ONLINE this Sunday morning.
We will still have our Covid precautions in place for everyone’s safety this Sunday morning:
The “LOBBY” is still the area outside the building between parking and front doors for the time being.
Use only Middle Double-Doors to enter and exit the building.
Masks are required at both our 9:30 and 11:00am Worship Gatherings. We ask that you please wear your mask for the entire Worship Gathering you attend. And, if I may, please wear your mask so that it covers your nose and mouth. Disposable masks are available if you forget to bring yours.
Doors will open at 9:15am for 9:30 Worship Gathering and 10:50am for our 11:00am Worship Gathering.
Lake Cafe` remains closed. (You may bring your own coffee and water)
Restrooms will be open but we request only 2 people in there at a time.
Seating in Auditorium is still “LIMITED” (75 seats in the Auditorium for each Worship Gathering; 50% capacity), so please allow Guest Services Volunteers to help find adequate seating for you and your family, and be prepared to maybe offer a seat next to you to a family that may need an extra seat for the service. (Please help us with our seating by choosing seats toward the front of the Auditorium as you come in, so we can help any who arrive later to not have to be guided through seats to the front, possibly interrupting your worship.)
No Connection Cards will be handed out. All notes, prayer requests, and 1st Time Connections and Prayer Requests can be shared at “I’m New” on mylake.church.
Everyone can use “Message Notes” on mylake.church, to follow along with the Scripture passages and take notes as well.
No Offering Baskets will be used to collect offerings. You may place your tithe or offering in baskets as you leave Auditorium, or Give Online at mylake.church.
No pens in seat pouches. (BYOP – Bring your own pen)
As you leave the Worship Gathering, please try to observe and respect “social distancing”.
If you have any reservations at all about being in a crowd of people; even if it is for a church service; or, if you have been around anyone with Covid-19 in the past two weeks; or, have shortness of breath or coughing; have a fever over 100; loss of sense of taste; not feeling well or, would just rather wait a little longer before returning to The Lake, then please join us online this Sunday at 9:30 or 11:00am at Lake Live Online.
Upcoming events at The Lake:
“I’ll Do It Tomorrow”
I pray you can join us this Sunday morning, In-Person or Online at Lake Live Online, at 9:30 and 11:00am, as we continue our teaching series, “I’ll Do It Tomorrow.” These past two weeks, we have centered our focus on one statement I see each time I visit the gym; “If it doesn’t challenge you, it doesn’t change you.” Our life is filled with challenges each day, and in every season. How do we respond to those challenges? Do we see those challenges as God’s way of changing us, growing us, and strengthening us? This Sunday we look at what may hinder our change in the challenge; what it is that causes us to stumble on our journey to become who God designed us to be. I do hope you’ll join us this Sunday for Week 3 of “I’ll Do It Tomorrow.” Hey! Invite some friends to join in Online, or join you In-person this Sunday at 9:30 or 11:00am.
LAKE STUDENTS AT THE LAKE
Lake Students continues this coming Wednesday evening, January 20th at 6:30pm. This Wednesday’s topic for discussion will be, “Hi, how are you doing?” On January 27th, the Lake Students will begin a new study on relationships called, “Don’t Get It Twisted.” To learn more about Lake Students and to keep up to date on Lake Students Happenings, please visit thelakestudents.com, or contact Eric Doane by email at email@example.com.
This Sunday, January 17th, and for the rest of the month of January, we will be offering a fully staffed Lake Kids Ministry at our 11:00am Worship Gathering only. If you could help us staff for enough teachers and volunteers for a 9:30 Lake Kids, please contact Amanda Stone at soon as you can, so we can again offer Lake Kids for multiple Gatherings. Her email is firstname.lastname@example.org, or email@example.com.
Our Pre-K children will continue their teaching series, “A Baby and a Bush.” It’s all about the Birth of Moses and the Burning Bush. They will be learning how, “I can do big stuff for God…when I do the little stuff each day!” Their Bible verse is Luke 16:10(NIV) “Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much…”
Our K-5 children are continuing their new study on “Truth.” This study is to help our children learn “How to be yourself.” Their Bible verse is Ephesians 4:24(NIV) “…put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.”
See you this Sunday at The Lake!
