Lake Advisory 10/2/2020

Welcome to October! And, welcome to a big weekend at The Lake. We’re finishing off our Psalm 23 teaching series and preparing for the Fall Semester of Connection Groups at The Lake with a Movie Night on Sunday at 4:00 and 6:30pm. We’re really excited about being able to offer a Movie Night @ The Lake; not just to kick off the start of Fall Connection Groups, but to be able to offer an evening of fellowship for families; a chance to get out and see some friends, laugh and cry together; enjoy an evening out together; and, have a safe place for children to be together. Since March of this year, there hasn’t been a lot of opportunities to do something like this at The Lake, but things are getting better each day.

So, I hope you are making plans to attend one of the two showings of “SMALL GROUP The Move” this Sunday at The Lake. The 4:00pm showing will be “Masks Required”, but we will be following Restaurant Standards (Wear your mask to your seat. If you bring your own snacks; popcorn will be available; you may remove your mask as long as you’re eating/drinking. If you need to leave the Auditorium, please wear your mask) The 6:30 showing will be “Masks Optional”. You are also welcome to bring your own snacks. Popcorn will be available. If you will need childcare for Movie Night @ The Lake, go to mylake.church, where you will find a trailer for the movie and a place to choose which showing you will be attending. Be sure to select which showing you will be attending and how many children, 5th grade and under.

Maybe you would just like to let us know which showing you’re planning to attend; 4:00 or 6:30pm. This will help us know if we need to add any extra seats, and better prepare our Guest Services Team. You can use the same page to do that at mylake.church.

RED BOX OUTREACH PROJECT
On behalf of our Women on Missions Group; “Thank you” to everyone who participated in this year’s Red Box Outreach Project; a church-wide Mission Project to help impact the lives of women currently in our NC Women’s Correctional Facilities. Your donations of Deodorants; Travel-size; roll-on or solid deodorants; 2.0-3.5 oz. size is greatly appreciated. If you missed this outreach opportunity, but still have a donation for the Red Box, you may contact Terrie Powles (tpowles@roadrunner.com) or Carole Lowman (ctlowman6180@gmail.com) to find out how you can add to this Project. Again, thank you in helping to make a difference in the lives of others through the Red Box Outreach Project.

Beginning this Sunday, October 4th, and continuing to Monday, November 2nd, I am asking Lake Community Church to join me in 30 Days of Prayer. 30 Days of reading Scripture together and praying together for our country, our leaders, and God’s church. Each day of these 30 Days of Prayer you will receive an email with a Scripture passage, a devotion, and a guide for prayer. I pray you will join me, our Staff, and the Leadership of The Lake as we pray together as one for God’s presence to be made known in this land.

As a reminder for this Sunday at The Lake; we still have our Covid precautions in place for everyone’s safety:

The “LOBBY” is still the area outside the building between parking and front doors for the time being.
Use only Middle Double-Doors to enter and exit the building.
Masks are required at 9:30am; not just for entering and finding a seat, but required to be worn for the entire Worship Gathering. And, if I may, please wear your mask so that it covers your nose and mouth. Disposable masks are available.

Masks are recommended at 11:00am. Disposable masks will be available before entering Auditorium for 9:30 and 11:00am Worship Gatherings.
Doors will open at 9:15am for 9:30 Worship Gathering and 10:50am for our 11:00am Worship Gathering.

Lake Cafe` remains closed. (You may bring your own coffee and water)
Restrooms will be open but we request only 2 people in there at a time.

Seating in Auditorium is still “LIMITED” (75 seats in the Auditorium for each Worship Gathering; 50% capacity), so please allow Guest Services Volunteers to help find adequate seating for you and your family, and be prepared to maybe offer a seat next to you to a family that may need an extra seat for the service. (Please help us with our seating by choosing seats toward the front of the Auditorium as you come in, so we can help any who arrive later to not have to be guided through seats to the front, possibly interrupting your worship.)

No Connection Cards will be handed out. All notes, prayer requests, and 1st Time Connections and Prayer Requests can be shared at “I’m New” on mylake.church.
Everyone can use “Message Notes” on mylake.church, to follow along with the Scripture passages and take notes as well.

No Offering Baskets will be used to collect offerings. You may place your tithe or offering in baskets as you leave Auditorium, or Give Online at mylake.church.
No pens in seat pouches. (BYOP – Bring your own pen)

As you leave the Worship Gathering, please try to observe and respect “social distancing”.

And remember, if you have any reservations at all about being in a crowd of people; even if it is for a church service; or, if you have been around anyone with Covid-19 in the past two weeks; or, have shortness of breath or coughing; have a fever over 100; loss of sense of taste; or, would just rather wait a little longer before returning to The Lake, then please join us online this Sunday at 9:30 or 11:00am at Lake Live Online.

Upcoming events at The Lake:

“Psalm 23”
We finish our teaching series, “Psalm 23”, this Sunday at 9:30 and 11:00am. This has been an interesting journey through what some consider the most familiar Scripture passage in the Bible; other than John 3:16. Join us this Sunday as we complete our study into what David was writing about when we crafted this Psalm, and how it is more than a record of a shepherd and his sheep…it’s about a personal relationship between God and mankind; us. I do hope you’ll join us this Sunday at 9:30 or 11:00am, In-person or Online at Lake Live Online as we close out this study.

LAKE STUDENTS HAVE RETURNED TO THE LAKE
Wednesday evenings at 6:30pm, Lake Students continue to meet at The LakeIn-Person, and via ZOOM for those who can’t make it and still want to be included the Middle School-High School Boys and Girls Break-Out Sessions. Masks are required as we follow the Rowan Salisbury School District guidelines. The ZOOM sessions will begin at 7:00pm. Each Wednesday, our Students are learning about some “Wild Stories” in the Bible; surviving a fiery furnace; a talking donkey; stories you may have never read in the Bible, or never knew were in the Bible. To find out more about Lake Students, visit thelakestudents.com, or contact Eric Doane by email at eric@thelake.church.

TRUNKZ O’ TREATZ DRIVE THRU, OCTOBER 31st
Yes, it’s probably going to look a little different this year, but we are making plans to offer a night out for families in our community with our Trunkz o’ Treatz Drive Thru on Saturday evening, October 31st. Be watching for a way to register to participate by decorating your vehicle as in the past years, and how you can volunteer to help with this crazy event. But, beginning this Sunday, we will be collecting candy for Trunkz o’ Treatz at our 9:30 and 11:00am Worship Gatherings. We will be collecting candy until Sunday, October 25th. You are also welcome to drop off your candy donations at The Lake during the week (Tuesday-Friday; 9:30am-4:30pm).
