For the past 8 months, God has been working in the lives of folks here at The Lake; helping them in their jobs, school work, their families; protecting them from illnesses and healing them after surgeries; blessing them with his kindness and grace; and, leading them through one crazy year. He’s also been raising up confident and bold believers, eager to make a difference in the lives of others through their involvement in events at The Lake, Outreach Projects at The Lake, worship attendance, serving; the list goes on. I just wanted to take a moment to thank all those who have faithfully served others here at The Lake for the past 5 months; since we re-opened the doors for Worship Gatherings. You have been an example of stewardship; using what God has given you for His purpose and glory. It has been because of these faithful volunteers, we have a Lake Kids Ministry on Sunday mornings and online during the week; we can offer Lake Students on Wednesday evenings; Connection Groups continue to meet; and our Guests are welcomed to The Lake every Sunday morning. You all are amazing in what you do and what you have done over the past 5 months.
But, I also know the toll that it can take to serve others. Yes, there is the blessing of serving others, but there is also much needed help to continue to serve others. Like I mentioned last night in a video on The Lake’s Facebook Page, we have a need for a few more people to join our Ministry Teams at The Lake to help serve and make a difference in the lives of others. It’s possible, that because of all the good work our Teams have been doing over the past 5 months, things seem like they’re being handled quite well, and they may not need your help. On the contrary…more families are beginning to bring their children back to Lake Kids; more students are beginning to show up on Wednesday evenings; attendance is gradually growing in our Worship Gatherings, to the point that we have discussed when and how we could add another service on Sunday mornings. (Not yet, but we’re paying close attention)
Because of the work of our Ministry Team members, and because of their commitment to making sure everything is clean, sanitized, and ready for guests each time we meet…we are beginning to see some growth. And with growth comes more opportunities to serve others. Maybe you, or you and your spouse are looking for a way to serve here at The Lake. You may be a high schooler, or college student, and think this may be a way for you to get more involved in church. It is! We really could use your help in staffing our Ministry Teams before the end of 2020, to help better prepare us for 2021. Interested? Click HERE, read about the Ministry Teams and signup.
I’m so thrilled about the response to Operation Christmas Child this year. All the empty OCC Shoeboxes have been selected to be filled and several of those filled Shoeboxes have already been returned! This Sunday, November 22nd, is the last Sunday to return your filled Shoeboxes so they can be transported to a local collection site. Of course, if you are attending tonight’s Night of Worship, you can bring them with you tonight. I also wanted to let you know that we have two teams of Volunteers serving at the Operation Christmas Child Processing Center this year. One team is serving in Charlotte tomorrow afternoon, and the second team is serving in two weeks on December 5th. Even in the midst of the “Worst Year Ever,” Lake Community Church is rising to the challenge to continue to shine the light of God’s love to others. Thank you all so much.
Oh come, let us sing to the Lord; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation! Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise! Psalm 95:1-2(ESV)
Tonight we gather to celebrate what God has been doing in and through Lake Community Church; even in the midst of this pandemic, with a we Night Of Worship and Communion. It all begins at 6:30pm tonight. The doors will open at 6:15pm. This is a “Masks Optional” event, and we will still follow all our safety guidelines we have in place on Sunday mornings. (listed below) There will no childcare offered for this event. Our Night of Worship will also be Live Online. More details coming soon.
We still have our Covid precautions in place for everyone’s safety this Sunday morning:
The “LOBBY” is still the area outside the building between parking and front doors for the time being.
Use only Middle Double-Doors to enter and exit the building.
Masks are required at 9:30am; not just for entering and finding a seat, but required to be worn for the entire Worship Gathering. And, if I may, please wear your mask so that it covers your nose and mouth. Disposable masks are available.
Masks are recommended at 11:00am. Disposable masks will be available before entering Auditorium for 9:30 and 11:00am Worship Gatherings.
Doors will open at 9:15am for 9:30 Worship Gathering and 10:50am for our 11:00am Worship Gathering.
Lake Cafe` remains closed. (You may bring your own coffee and water)
Restrooms will be open but we request only 2 people in there at a time.
Seating in Auditorium is still “LIMITED” (75 seats in the Auditorium for each Worship Gathering; 50% capacity), so please allow Guest Services Volunteers to help find adequate seating for you and your family, and be prepared to maybe offer a seat next to you to a family that may need an extra seat for the service. (Please help us with our seating by choosing seats toward the front of the Auditorium as you come in, so we can help any who arrive later to not have to be guided through seats to the front, possibly interrupting your worship.)
No Connection Cards will be handed out. All notes, prayer requests, and 1st Time Connections and Prayer Requests can be shared at “I’m New” on mylake.church.
Everyone can use “Message Notes” on mylake.church, to follow along with the Scripture passages and take notes as well.
No Offering Baskets will be used to collect offerings. You may place your tithe or offering in baskets as you leave Auditorium, or Give Online at mylake.church.
No pens in seat pouches. (BYOP – Bring your own pen)
As you leave the Worship Gathering, please try to observe and respect “social distancing”.
If you have any reservations at all about being in a crowd of people; even if it is for a church service; or, if you have been around anyone with Covid-19 in the past two weeks; or, have shortness of breath or coughing; have a fever over 100; loss of sense of taste; not feeling well or, would just rather wait a little longer before returning to The Lake, then please join us online this Sunday at 9:30 or 11:00am at Lake Live Online.
Upcoming events at The Lake:
“Worst Year Ever”
This Sunday we are in Week 2 of our teaching series, “Worst Year Ever.” I’m sure many of you would agree this year hasn’t been the best, or even the year we had anticipated having, but the truth still remains…God is still in control and He will carry out His plans, regardless of what our circumstances may be. But still…we, as humans, feel a need to question “why” these things happen. Even going as far as asking the ever-popular question; “Why do bad things happen to good people?” I want to read about a man in the Bible who suffered so much in a short period of time, but instead of turning away from God because of his struggles, he drew even closer in his relationship with God. Join us this Sunday at 9:30 and 11:00am; either In-person or Online at Lake Live Online.
LAKE STUDENTS AT THE LAKE
Lake Students will not be meeting on Wednesday evening, November 25th. But, they will return to The Lake the following week with a study on “Courage.” To learn more about Lake Students, please visit thelakestudents.com, or contact Eric Doane by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
This Sunday, Lake Kids is still offered at the 9:30 and 11:00am Worship Gathering! Our 9:30am Lake Kids Ministry is open to all children; Nursery to 5th Grade. Our 11:00am Lake Kids Ministry will be open to Pre-K to 5th Grade. (No Nursery provided just yet at 11:00am)
Our Pre-K children are learning about The King and the Kingdom. This Sunday morning they continue with The Sermon On The Mount, where they will learn, “Jesus is the best teacher…so I listen to Him! Their memory verse: John 13:13(NIRV) “You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord.’… That is what I am.” Our K-5 children continue their study; What’s A Disciple? This Sunday, they learn, Disciples Make Disciples. Their Bible verse for this week is 1 Corinthians 11:1(NIRV) Follow my example, just as I follow the example of Christ.
Our Lake Kids Director, Amanda Stone, will continue to share all the lessons and projects online for Lake Kids each week on our mylake.church website. And, our age appropriate Lake Kids Pack will still be available for your child if you choose to have them sit with you in our Auditorium. There is also an added resource on your phone for your children in the Bible App for Kids.
We are so close to fully offering Lake Kids at both our Worship Gatherings on Sundays, but with the holidays approaching, more volunteers are needed than what we have serving now. If you would like to be a part of making a difference in a child’s life, please contact Amanda Stone at soon as you can. Her email is email@example.com, or firstname.lastname@example.org.
