Lake Advisory 11/27/20

Important Changes for our Worship Gatherings Beginning This Sunday!

First off, I believe we’d all agree this year hasn’t been the easiest to navigate from a church scheduling point of view. We’ve been limited to whether or not we could even meet and worship in the building for several weeks; to being able to open our doors to limited seating and safety procedures; to offering two Worship Gatherings on Sunday; one Masks Required; one Masks Optional, and to be able to open up Lake Kids fully at 9:30am (still no Nursery at 11:00), and to have Lake Students return to the building on Wednesday evenings.
It has been a roller-coaster to say the least. But, you have all stayed committed to the mission and vision of The Lake through all of this, and I applaud you all.

Now, the Staff and I are faced with a very difficult decision in going forward.

After the most recent mandate issued by the Governor’s office of North Carolina, masks are being required in more public places and public gatherings; even with the social distancing precautions in place, masks will be required. What will this mean for Lake Community Church?

Our first step is to make both of our Worship Gatherings, 9:30 and 11:00am, MASKS REQUIRED. When you enter into our building on Sunday mornings or Wednesday evenings, you will need to be wearing a mask. If you do not have a mask; forgot it and left at home, we will have disposable masks available for you to wear as you enter the building. We are also asking you to wear your mask correctly and please leave your mask on for the entire Worship Gathering you attend.

If you are unable to wear a mask for health reasons, we ask you to please remain at home and worship with us Online on Sunday mornings at 9:30 or 11:00am.

We are also recommending that if you are bringing your children to participate in Lake Kids on a Sunday morning, please have them wear a mask; ages 2 and up. The latest mandate requires masks be worn by children 5 and up.

In an all-out effort to control the rising cases of Covid-19 across North Carolina, and for us in Rowan County and at The Lake, we want to do the best we can to help keep everyone safe when they choose to gather for worship on Sundays. All of our pre-service preparations and cleaning will still continue as we have been doing. This will take place before, between, and after our Worship Gatherings. We will continue to separate toys and items used for crafts after each gathering of children in Lake Kids, so they are not used until cleaned and sanitized. Lake Students will continue next week with the masks requirement for all students and volunteers.

We have been doing a good job for the past several months, and I expect the same level of commitment from all our Volunteers each week in Lake KidsGuests Services, and Lake Students. Our biggest change will be having both of our Worship Gatherings now MASKS REQUIRED.

For how long? We don’t know yet. There will be a statement made around December 11th about what’s next. My prayer, and I would ask you to join me in this prayer, is for God to continue to protect His church and His family from this virus; to heal those who may contract this virus, and that they recover quickly and completely; and, for His hand to guide us with love and compassion for others, giving us wisdom to take all the precautions we can, and to continually show the love of Jesus through all of this.

We still have our Covid precautions in place for everyone’s safety this Sunday morning:

The “LOBBY” is still the area outside the building between parking and front doors for the time being.
Use only Middle Double-Doors to enter and exit the building.
Masks are required at 9:30 and 11:00am; not just for entering and finding a seat, but required to be worn for the entire Worship Gathering. And, if I may, please wear your mask so that it covers your nose and mouth. Disposable masks are available.

Doors will open at 9:15am for 9:30 Worship Gathering and 10:50am for our 11:00am Worship Gathering.

Lake Cafe` remains closed. (You may bring your own coffee and water)
Restrooms will be open but we request only 2 people in there at a time.

Seating in Auditorium is still “LIMITED” (75 seats in the Auditorium for each Worship Gathering; 50% capacity), so please allow Guest Services Volunteers to help find adequate seating for you and your family, and be prepared to maybe offer a seat next to you to a family that may need an extra seat for the service. (Please help us with our seating by choosing seats toward the front of the Auditorium as you come in, so we can help any who arrive later to not have to be guided through seats to the front, possibly interrupting your worship.)

No Connection Cards will be handed out. All notes, prayer requests, and 1st Time Connections and Prayer Requests can be shared at “I’m New” on
Everyone can use “Message Notes” on, to follow along with the Scripture passages and take notes as well.

No Offering Baskets will be used to collect offerings. You may place your tithe or offering in baskets as you leave Auditorium, or Give Online at
No pens in seat pouches. (BYOP – Bring your own pen)

As you leave the Worship Gathering, please try to observe and respect “social distancing”.

If you have any reservations at all about being in a crowd of people; even if it is for a church service; or, if you have been around anyone with Covid-19 in the past two weeks; or, have shortness of breath or coughing; have a fever over 100; loss of sense of taste; not feeling well or, would just rather wait a little longer before returning to The Lake, then please join us online this Sunday at 9:30 or 11:00am at Lake Live Online.

Upcoming events at The Lake:

“Worst Year Ever”
This Sunday at 9:30 and 11:00am, we will be bringing to a close our current teaching series, “Worst Year Ever.” We probably didn’t think this year could get much worse, but right now, it may feel like it has. And, with this being Thanksgiving Week; can we even begin to think about being thankful? Can we recall God’s blessings in our life this year at all? How are we supposed to be thankful after all this year has thrown at us? We will look in God’s Word and find out that “Yes”, we can and should be thankful for what God has done in our lives; even in the midst of the “Worst Year Ever.” Join us this Sunday at The Lake; either In-person or Online at Lake Live Online.

Lake Students will return to meeting on Wednesday evenings on December 2nd at 6:30pm. They will begin a new study on “Courage.” Lake Students is open to all Middle and High School aged students. To learn more about Lake Students, please visit, or contact Eric Doane by email at

Our Pre-K children are learning about The First Christmas Gift this Sunday morning. They will learn that God Is Always With Us and that He will never leave us. Their memory verse: Matthew 1:23(NLT) “…they will call him Immanuel, which means ‘God is with us.’Our K-5 children begin a Bible study; God Is My Dad. This Sunday they learn, Choose to follow Jesus so you can get to know God as the best Dad ever. Their Bible verse for this week is Ephesians 1:5(NIRV) So he decided long ago to adopt us as his children. He did it because of what Jesus Christ has done.

Our Lake Kids Director, Amanda Stone, continues to share all the lessons and projects online for Lake Kids each week on our website. And, our age appropriate Lake Kids Pack is still available for your child if you choose to have them sit with you in our Auditorium. There is also an added resource on your phone for your children in the Bible App for Kids.

We are so close to fully offering Lake Kids at both our Worship Gatherings on Sundays, but with the holidays approaching, more volunteers are needed than what we have serving now. If you would like to be a part of making a difference in a child’s life, please contact Amanda Stone at soon as you can. Her email is, or
