Let me just say….No…let me shout, “THANK YOU” to everyone who has participated in our Terrie Hess House Christmas Angel Project. Your donations of Amazon Gift Cards will allow the staff of the Terrie Hess House to purchase Christmas gifts for all the children they minister to; children who need emotional, physical, mental and spiritual help, guidance, love and care each day. I am thrilled to deliver Amazon Gift Cards, collected from you; individuals, couples, families, Connection Groups; the generous Lake Community Church family, totaling $1,150.00!!
Like I’ve said before, and I know I will probably say this again…God uses The Lake to shine a light of “Hope” in this dark world; always has and always will. The commitment level, the servant heart and the faithfulness of the followers of Jesus here at The Lake is amazing. You allow God to use you in such incredible ways. It doesn’t matter the situation, the circumstances; whether there’s a small need, or a church-wide project; you consistently make the needs of others a priority and this community is blessed by you. Thank you again for changing the lives of so many children, and their families this Christmas. Thank you for being the “Hope” this world needs.
Tomorrow evening, we have a second wave of Volunteers from Lake Community Church headed to Charlotte to serve at the Processing Center for Operation Christmas Child; to sort through and pack for shipment thousands upon thousands of shoeboxes for children around the world. (I had originally shared this information last week, but I had the dates wrong. My apologies to these Volunteers)
Christmas is getting closer! I’m sure I don’t have to remind many of you of that, but I did want to let you know that it is not too late to use RightNow Media to help you learn more, study more, experience more about the Christmas Story from some of the best teachers today. When you do visit RightNow Media, you’ll notice there is a Lake Community Church page. Some Christmas Studies are already there for you to check out. You may even want to share a study with some friends through the Christmas season. If you haven’t already done so, I encourage you to click the link RightNow to set up your own personal account and continue your journey in becoming all you have been called to be as a follower of Jesus. You can access your account, or create an account from our website, www.thelake.church.
We still have our Covid precautions in place for everyone’s safety this Sunday morning:
The “LOBBY” is still the area outside the building between parking and front doors for the time being.
Use only Middle Double-Doors to enter and exit the building.
Masks are required at both our 9:30 and 11:00am Worship Gatherings. We ask that you please wear your mask for the entire Worship Gathering you attend. And, if I may, please wear your mask so that it covers your nose and mouth. Disposable masks are available if you forget to bring yours.
Doors will open at 9:15am for 9:30 Worship Gathering and 10:50am for our 11:00am Worship Gathering.
Lake Cafe` remains closed. (You may bring your own coffee and water)
Restrooms will be open but we request only 2 people in there at a time.
Seating in Auditorium is still “LIMITED” (75 seats in the Auditorium for each Worship Gathering; 50% capacity), so please allow Guest Services Volunteers to help find adequate seating for you and your family, and be prepared to maybe offer a seat next to you to a family that may need an extra seat for the service. (Please help us with our seating by choosing seats toward the front of the Auditorium as you come in, so we can help any who arrive later to not have to be guided through seats to the front, possibly interrupting your worship.)
No Connection Cards will be handed out. All notes, prayer requests, and 1st Time Connections and Prayer Requests can be shared at “I’m New” on mylake.church.
Everyone can use “Message Notes” on mylake.church, to follow along with the Scripture passages and take notes as well.
No Offering Baskets will be used to collect offerings. You may place your tithe or offering in baskets as you leave Auditorium, or Give Online at mylake.church.
No pens in seat pouches. (BYOP – Bring your own pen)
As you leave the Worship Gathering, please try to observe and respect “social distancing”.
If you have any reservations at all about being in a crowd of people; even if it is for a church service; or, if you have been around anyone with Covid-19 in the past two weeks; or, have shortness of breath or coughing; have a fever over 100; loss of sense of taste; not feeling well or, would just rather wait a little longer before returning to The Lake, then please join us online this Sunday at 9:30 or 11:00am at Lake Live Online.
Upcoming events at The Lake:
“The Best Christmas Ever”
Last Sunday, we learned that “Hope” is the foundation for us being able to experience “The Best Christmas Ever.” The “Hope” we have because God sent His Son to earth as a baby, is a “Hope” to be shared in this darkened world. As Jesus said, “You are the light of the world.” This light we carry inside us, this “hope” that lives in us, needs to be evidenced in and through our life for others to see. This Sunday at 9:30 and 11:00am, we embrace the “Peace” that has been given to us through the birth of Jesus. Join us at 9:30 and 11:00am; either In-person or Online at Lake Live Online as we learn more about this “Peace” we need to enjoy “The Best Christmas Ever.”
LAKE STUDENTS AT THE LAKE
Lake Students will not be meeting this Wednesday evening, December 16th. Their next session will begin in January when schools resume meeting. Lake Students invites all Middle and High School aged students to be making plans to come and be a part of what God is doing in the lives of all students; using students to make a difference in this world. To learn more about Lake Students, please visit thelakestudents.com, or contact Eric Doane by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
This Sunday, Lake Kids is Masks Required at the 9:30 and 11:00am Worship Gathering! We ask that your children please wear a mask to Lake Kids. Our 9:30am Lake Kids Ministry is open to all children; Nursery to 5th Grade. Our 11:00am Lake Kids Ministry will be open to Pre-K to 5th Grade. (No Nursery provided just yet at 11:00am)
Our Pre-K children will continue learning about The First Christmas Gift this Sunday morning with their lesson; Jesus Is Born. Their memory verse: John 3:16(NIRV) “God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only son…” Our K-5 children begin a Bible study on; Generosity. This Sunday they learn that you can Serve God With Your Money. Their Bible verse for this week is Matthew 6:24(NIRV) “…You can’t serve God and money at the same time.”
Our Lake Kids Director, Amanda Stone, continues to share all the lessons and projects online for Lake Kids each week on our mylake.church website. And, our age appropriate Lake Kids Pack is still available for your child if you choose to have them sit with you in our Auditorium. There is also an added resource on your phone for your children in the Bible App for Kids.
We are so close to fully offering Lake Kids at both our Worship Gatherings on Sundays, but with the holidays approaching, more volunteers are needed than what we have serving now. If you would like to be a part of making a difference in a child’s life, please contact Amanda Stone at soon as you can. Her email is email@example.com, or firstname.lastname@example.org.
2020 is coming to a close, and as a Staff, we are already preparing for 2021. On Sunday evening, January 3rd, we will be presenting to Lake Community Church a proposed 2021 Budget for your approval. Once we have the Budget finalized by The Lake’s Leadership Team, we will make copies available by email and at our Worship Gatherings prior to January 3rd.
This year, with Christmas being on Friday, and to honor the importance of spending time with family for Christmas; and, to celebrate the final week of “The Best Christmas Ever” teaching series, and the final weekend of 2020, we will be offering one Worship Gathering on Sunday, December 27th at 10:00am. This Gathering will be “Online only,” so we can all enjoy Christmas with our families and friends. Merry Christmas!!
See you this Sunday at The Lake…Live and Online!
