Can you believe it? Christmas is one week away! One Week!! I bet you didn’t need to be reminded of that again. This year has moved right along, and now we are in the stages of preparing for another year to begin. But, before we do that, we do need to embrace the rest of this year and the rest of the Christmas season still to enjoy. I know, you probably don’t want to embrace any more of “this year,” but I think it’s important for us to embrace every moment of this Christmas season; even in the midst of “this year.”
Christmas can become so busy we forget the real reason we celebrate it; the birth of God’s Son. It’s with His birth, we are given undeserving gifts of His love, grace and mercy. It’s through His birth, we are offered a chance to experience life to the fullest. And, it’s through our belief and acceptance of His death and resurrection, we are changed forever. You see, there’s so much more to Christmas than all the hustle and bustle, the rushing around, and trying to do more than humanly possible. Christmas is a time to be reminded of God’s love for us, and an opportunity for us to share that love with others. May your Christmas “this year” be the one that will be remembered; not only by you and your family, but by everyone you come in contact with, as “The Best Christmas Ever!”
Also, don’t forget. With Christmas being on Friday “this year,” and with folks trying to make plans to have some extended time with family, we have made the decision to finish off the final week of “The Best Christmas Ever,” and the final Sunday of 2020, by offering one Worship Gathering on Sunday, December 27th at 10:00am. This Gathering will be “Online only,” so we can all enjoy Christmas with our families and friends.
Christmas is getting closer! I’m sure I don’t have to remind many of you of that, but I did want to let you know that it is not too late to use RightNow Media to help you learn more, study more, experience more about the Christmas Story from some of the best teachers today. When you do visit RightNow Media, you’ll notice there is a Lake Community Church page. Some Christmas Studies are already there for you to check out. You may even want to share a study with some friends through the Christmas season. If you haven’t already done so, I encourage you to click the link RightNow to set up your own personal account and continue your journey in becoming all you have been called to be as a follower of Jesus. You can access your account, or create an account from our website, www.thelake.church.
We still have our Covid precautions in place for everyone’s safety this Sunday morning:
The “LOBBY” is still the area outside the building between parking and front doors for the time being.
Use only Middle Double-Doors to enter and exit the building.
Masks are required at both our 9:30 and 11:00am Worship Gatherings. We ask that you please wear your mask for the entire Worship Gathering you attend. And, if I may, please wear your mask so that it covers your nose and mouth. Disposable masks are available if you forget to bring yours.
Doors will open at 9:15am for 9:30 Worship Gathering and 10:50am for our 11:00am Worship Gathering.
Lake Cafe` remains closed. (You may bring your own coffee and water)
Restrooms will be open but we request only 2 people in there at a time.
Seating in Auditorium is still “LIMITED” (75 seats in the Auditorium for each Worship Gathering; 50% capacity), so please allow Guest Services Volunteers to help find adequate seating for you and your family, and be prepared to maybe offer a seat next to you to a family that may need an extra seat for the service. (Please help us with our seating by choosing seats toward the front of the Auditorium as you come in, so we can help any who arrive later to not have to be guided through seats to the front, possibly interrupting your worship.)
No Connection Cards will be handed out. All notes, prayer requests, and 1st Time Connections and Prayer Requests can be shared at “I’m New” on mylake.church.
Everyone can use “Message Notes” on mylake.church, to follow along with the Scripture passages and take notes as well.
No Offering Baskets will be used to collect offerings. You may place your tithe or offering in baskets as you leave Auditorium, or Give Online at mylake.church.
No pens in seat pouches. (BYOP – Bring your own pen)
As you leave the Worship Gathering, please try to observe and respect “social distancing”.
If you have any reservations at all about being in a crowd of people; even if it is for a church service; or, if you have been around anyone with Covid-19 in the past two weeks; or, have shortness of breath or coughing; have a fever over 100; loss of sense of taste; not feeling well or, would just rather wait a little longer before returning to The Lake, then please join us online this Sunday at 9:30 or 11:00am at Lake Live Online.
Upcoming events at The Lake:
“The Best Christmas Ever”
Join us this Sunday for our third week of “The Best Christmas Ever.” So far, we’ve learned about the “Hope” we have that shines in the darkness around us. Last Sunday we learned about the “Peace” we have in knowing that Jesus came to earth for us. This Sunday we explore the “Joy” we should have in our life because of the birth of Jesus. So, make plans to be with us at 9:30 or 11:00am; either In-person or Online at Lake Live Online as we learn more about “The Best Christmas Ever.”
