This is The Lake’s new way to give generously online through our new website; mylake.church. (If you haven’t visited our new site yet, I’d encourage you to take a quick tour through it and let us know what you think) But, I wanted to show you this cool little “Rocker Guy” icon that will take you through an easy way to generously support Lake Community Church from basically anywhere you might be, or at anytime you choose to give your tithe, or special offering.
I also want you inform you that if you have used our online giving in the past, you will need to close that process; especially if you have an automatic draft set up through your checking account. You will need to set up, or activate a new account by clicking on the “Rocker Guy” icon and following the easy process for setting up an automatic draft for your online giving through our new website. (And, please include your first and last name, along with your email when prompted) Of course, you can make one-time donations to The Lake through this same feature on our new website. Remember though, any contributions made with a credit/debit card will include a 1.9% fee added to your contribution. Any contribution using your checking account has no fee attached to it.
The new website also makes it easy for you to join a Ministry Team, a Missions/Outreach Team, and even a Connection Group at The Lake. You can find these opportunities under the “Next Steps” tab at the top of the home page. You can also listen to past “Sermons” if you missed a Sunday and want to stay connected to the flow of a teaching series, or just to go back revisit a Sunday’s message. Under “Kids/Students” you can learn about these Ministries offered through The Lake each week.
Many of you may not be aware of this, but through your generosity in 2019, Lake Community Church was able to make a donation to a Missions Team from Catawba College’s Nurses Program to send 14 students and 2 faculty to serve on a Medical Missions Team in the mountainous border of Haiti and The Dominican Republic. The “Missionaries” from our own community will be ministering to the physical and spiritual needs of people on this island who may otherwise never see a nurse or physician, or receive the love of Christ through the willingness of others. “Thank you” to everyone who inconspicuously, through your tithes and offerings, helped to make this trip possible.
Please be in prayer for these “Missionaries” from our area. Our own Valerie Rakes (Guest Services) will be serving as one of these “Missionaries.” The team will be leaving on Saturday, February 29th and will return the following Sunday, March 8th.
Upcoming events at The Lake:
“Who’s Your One?
This Sunday is the last installment of our “Who’s Your One?” teaching series; a challenge for each of us to reach that “One” God has placed on our heart to reach for Him. Throughout this series, we have learned the importance of doing all we can, while we can, to reach “One” with our story of salvation; our life-change; to invite our “One” to “Come and see” what God has done in our life through Jesus. This Sunday, at 9:30 and 11:00am, we will explain how, what we might consider insignificant, can make a significant difference in the life our our “One.”
This coming Wednesday evening, 6:30-8:00pm, our Lake Students will begin a new study; “Translate” This six-week study will look at the “big words” found in the Bible and provide a theologically rich explanation to help students better understand the death and resurrection of Jesus and apply its meaning to their lives. All middle school and high school students are invited to Lake Students! To learn more about Lake Students, visit their website: thelakestudents.com and/or contact Eric Doane for what’s next.
Our pre-school children will continue their Bible study, “Through The Roof;” all abut how Jesus Heals a Paralyzed Man. This week’s lesson is, “I’m a good friend when…I help others!” Their Bible memory verse is from Romans 12:13(NIRV) “Share with God’s people who are in need…” Our K-5 Lake Kids study for this Sunday is, “Peer Relationships” Week 4’s focus is on “If My Family Is Fighting.” Their Bible Memory Verse is from; Romans 14:19(NIRV) “So let us do all we can to live in peace. And let us work hard to build up one another.” (Parents, be sure to use the Bible App for Kids to follow along with your child’s lessons.)
