Lake Advisory 2/7/20

Scouting For Food
“Thank you” to everyone who helped with this Outreach Project for Rowan Helping Ministries. Your one-week effort resulted in 511 lbs. of food delivered. Amazing!! If you were unable to return your grocery bag filled with groceries last Sunday, you may still bring it with you this Sunday and have it delivered to Rowan Helping Ministries this week. Thanks again for your help with Scouting For Food.

Winter Semester Connection Groups
This week was the first full week of Connection Groups being offered at The Lake for the Winter Semester. Many of you took advantage of the Connection Launch event the past few Sundays, and some signed up through our website; And, just to let you know; it’s not too late to join a Connection Group. Actually, with the sermon-based format used by nearly all of our Connection Groups, you may join at anytime during a semester, because the discussions and conversations are centered on the previous Sunday’s message topic.

Upcoming events at The Lake:

“Who’s Your One?
Who is that one person God has placed in your mind, or on your heart, and it seems as though you are always thinking about them. Like, “I wish they had been at church this past Sunday. I wonder where they go to church; or, if they would join me at The Lake this Sunday?” Do we realize we have been chosen by Jesus, the Son of God, to make a difference in our world; that world around us; our family, our friends, those we work with, and go to school with. And, within the scope of these people in our life lies our “One”; that “One” we have been called to lead into a relationship with the Lord. “How can I do that?” you might ask…we’ll discuss a way this Sunday at The Lake; 9:30 and 11:00am. Your “One” may like to hear this themselves. Hint. Hint.

This coming Wednesday evening, 6:30-8:00pm, our Lake Students will begin a new study; “Follow Me?” This study will discuss individuals in the Bible who had an opportunity to follow Jesus but didn’t, and the reason(s) why they chose not to offer their lives to Christ. All middle school and high school students are invited to Lake Students! To learn more about Lake Students, visit their website: and/or contact Eric Doane for what’s next.

Our pre-school children began a new study last week called, “Through The Roof;” all abut how Jesus Heals a Paralyzed Man. This week’s lesson is, “I’m a good friend…when I show that I care.” Their Bible memory verse is from Romans 12:13(NIRV) “Share with God’s people who are in need…” Our K-5 Lake Kids study for this Sunday is, “Peer Relationships” Week 1’s focus is to “Love Everyone.” Their Bible Memory Verse is from; Matthew 5:44(NIRV) “Love your enemies. Pray for those who hurt you.” (Parents, be sure to use the Bible App for Kids to follow along with your child’s lessons.)

Lake Valentines Couples Event
This special event just got a week closer. If you haven’t reserved your seat yet, you can visit and register for this event online, or stop by our Resource Center in the Lobby to sign up. This Sunday will be your last opportunity to register at our Resource Center. Reservations come to an end on Wednesday, February 12 at 6:00pm.

Lake Community Church’s Women’s Conference
Sign ups for our Women’s Conference begins this Sunday, February 2, at our Resource Center, or you can go online to and register there immediately. (I really wouldn’t wait too long to register. I’d go ahead and do it now; while it’s fresh on your mind.)

Lake Hoodies Are Back!!
Just in time for weather to begin to turn colder; Lake Hoodies return! What better way to let people know where you attend church; where you worship (without saying a word), than with a Lake Hoodie. This was such a popular item in the past, we decided to do a quick restock. You can find them in the Lobby this Sunday and they’re only $15. Limited quantities.

A New Lake Website is Coming!
We will be revealing a little more about this new website again this Sunday. For your own sneak peak, visit;

See you this Sunday at The Lake!
