Lake Advisory 3/20/20

Welcome to the 1st full day of Spring!! And, welcome to the first announcement of the next chapter of how Lake Community Church will be having “Church” for the next few weeks. As many of you know, churches across America have been asked to limit our gatherings to help in slowing, and potentially fighting against the spread of the coronavirus. This virus has created a lot of fear in the hearts and minds of people, and as a staff, we want to do all we can to ease the burden of what you should do when it comes to Sunday morning and your schedule always has you attending church with other believers; family and friends and neighbors.

Last Sunday, we did our first-ever LiveStream of our Message portion of our services. Don’t know about you, but I thought things went really well; based on the fact we weren’t completely confident in hat we were doing, or if it would actually work. But, quite a few people joined us online and we even heard about how one of our deployed Military members got to watch our service half-way around the world. I hope you enjoyed being a part of The Lake even though you you couldn’t join us in person last Sunday.

Our plans for this Sunday are to do another LiveStream of our Worship Gathering; Worship Team included. Our Worship and Production Team have been working all week to make sure we can provide a complete Worship Gathering for you, and I pray you join us at 10:00am this Sunday. You can “Like”, or choose a Smiley emoji, or a Heart emoji to let us know you’re there with us. The whole service will be Live at 10:00am, and you’ll be able to view it anytime after that, or share it with your friends on your social media page. (You never know; your “One” may want to be a part of this as well)

We have been working and planning and assembling online pages for our Lake Kids and Lake Students so that lessons, crafts, stories, videos, games, and teachings can continue throughout the week. There is a new Tab added to our mylake.church page; Lake Church Online, that will give parents of children access to their child’s lessons and Bible stories; Pre-K, and K-5. Students will have access to this resource beginning next week.

Let’s see; what else do I need to let you know about when it comes to our Lake LiveStream this Sunday morning? If you have already “Liked” The Lake’s Facebook Page, then you will have access to our LiveStream. If you haven’t been to our Facebook Page, you can click this link: LakeCC, and you will be there. You may also be able to use mylake.church to access our Online Worship Gathering this Sunday as well. On the Home page, simply scroll down until you see a Lake Church Online card. Click on it and you’ll be a part of our Worship Gathering on Sunday morning.

I know people are still questioning what to do with their tithe, offering, or financial gift to The Lake; especially if you have always put your offering in an envelope on Sunday mornings. Since we have been asked to limit the size of our Gatherings, and have opted to be Lake Church Online for the next few weeks, to follow those guidelines and safety precautions for our members and guests, there are still ways to give to The Lake.
You can mail your offering to The Lake, 7800 Bringle Ferry Rd. Salisbury, NC 28146, or stop by the church, T-F, between 9:30am and 4:00pm.
The easiest way would be to give online. Many of you have been giving online for a while now, and I’m sure you’d agree, it works really well. Some of you even have a bank draft set up to where your gift is taken from your account each week, or month, and you don’t even have to think about it. If you haven’t tried giving online yet, because it hasn’t been necessary because we meet every week, then maybe this season is an opportunity to give that a try.

You can still give online at thelake.church, or you can use mylake.church to give online. Both of these sites are currently operational. Eventually, we will move to just one, but with the circumstance as they are now; if you have been visiting thelake.church and know where to give on that site, continue to use that site. thelake.church has the Give Online tab in the upper right corner of the page. You can click on it and follow the instructions. mylake.church uses the small blue circle in the lower right corner of the page. Either one of these sites can be used to give your tithe or offerings to The Lake.

Even though we may not be able to meet face-to-face as a church body, and worship together in one room, we are still the “Church.” Church is not the walls, but the people. And, as the “Church”, we are committed to being a light in our community; to be a safe place for those needing help, and to reach out to comfort and care for those in need. Your generosity; especially during this difficult time in our country, will make it possible for The Lake to go beyond the walls and impact the lives of people whose world has been turned upside-down in the last two weeks. Many of the ministries we have helped out in the past through your generosity will be asking for assistance as this uncertainty continues, and we can still make a difference there, but it will take us all focusing on the faith we have been given to trust God; looking past the fear that’s been created, and doing all we can to light our light shine.

I’m so blessed to be a part of this amazing body of believers and am so looking forward to what God will do through us; His church.

One more thing…wash you hands!

Upcoming events at The Lake:

“Against All Odds”
This Sunday, at 10:00am, only…and only Online at 10:00am, we begin a new teaching series, “Against All Odds.” And, with the state of the world in the midst of this coronavirus, it feels like the odds are against us. But, do we realize that God had a plan already in motion, since the beginning of time, to do what only He could do to rescue us; to deliver us from the sin that can grip us so tightly we sense very little hope in ever being free. “Against All Odds” takes a look at how Jesus came to this earth to save us, to face and defeat the odds for us. It all begins this Sunday at The Lake.
