Lake Advisory 3/6/20

I know this is probably not what you wanted to read first thing with this Lake Advisory, but I need to let you know about the time-change for this weekend so you will be on time for our 9:30 and 11:00am Worship Gatherings at The Lake this Sunday. And, just in case you’ve already forgotten, we all received an extra day this year last Saturday. That was an extra 24 hours, so giving back one hour shouldn’t be that big a deal; really. It’s one hour. (You can get it back later Sunday afternoon during a nap)

That is one of the big events for this Sunday at The Lake. This Sunday also marks the return trip for Valerie Rakes and the Medical Missions Team from Catawba College. This will be a long flight back, so remember to be in prayer for this Team’s safe return after ministering to the folks living on the mountainous border of Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Like you, I can’t wait to hear about what all God accomplished through these missionaries.

This Sunday is all the start of a new teaching series, “I Still Believe”, to coincide with the release of the newest, faith-based film of the same name on Friday, March 13. And, this Sunday launches our Lake Students’ M-Fuge Raffle to help our Students raise funds to take care of their Summer Missions Event in the NC Mountains. More information about this and other upcoming events are listed below.

One other reminder…
If you have been, or are planning to begin making your contributions to Lake Community Church online, please be sure to visit our new website; and look for the cool little “Rocker Guy” icon in the lower right corner of the page. This will be your link to generously support Lake Community Church from basically anywhere you might be, or at anytime you choose to give your tithe, or special offering.

Now, if you have used online giving in the past through, or the Church Center App on your phone, you will need to close that process; especially if you have an automatic draft set up through your checking account. All of the online contributions will be handled by a new server for The Lake. You will need to set up, or activate a new account by clicking on the “Rocker Guy” icon and then…be sure to do thisSign In and create an Account/Profile to set up your Online Giving; especially if you are planning to give on a recurring cycle; an automatic draft. (And, please include your first and last name, along with your email when prompted) Of course, you can make one-time donations to The Lake through this same feature on our new website. Remember, any contributions made with a credit/debit card will include a 1.9% fee added to your contribution. Any contribution using your checking account has no fee attached to it.

You can also search through the new website to join a Ministry Team, a Missions/Outreach Team, and even a Connection Group at The Lake. You can find these opportunities under the “Next Steps” tab at the top of the home page. You can also listen to past “Sermons” if you missed a Sunday and want to stay connected to the flow of a teaching series, or just to go back revisit a Sunday’s message. Under “Kids/Students” you can learn about these Ministries offered through The Lake each week.

Upcoming events at The Lake:

“I Still Believe”
This Sunday, at 9:30 and 11:00am, we begin a new teaching series, “I Still Believe”; inspired by a new faith-based movie by the same name, which opens in theaters next Friday, March 13. The movie is about a true story of how life doesn’t always go the way we plan, and even though, as a believer, we know God can do miracles, how do we respond when our prayer isn’t answered the way we expected. Would “I Still Believe” in God if He doesn’t respond to my request like I’d hoped? I believe this short two-week series may give us all some answers to the questions we’ve had in or past about whether God will answer our prayers, or not. I also believe this would be a good series to Invite your “One” to “Come and see.” Looking forward to seeing you this Sunday at The Lake.

This coming Wednesday evening, 6:30-8:00pm, our Lake Students will continue their study; “Translate” This six-week study will look at the “big words” found in the Bible and provide a theologically rich explanation to help students better understand the death and resurrection of Jesus and apply its meaning to their lives. All middle school and high school students are invited to Lake Students! To learn more about Lake Students, visit their website: and/or contact Eric Doane for what’s next.
