Lake Advisory 4/10/2020

It’s Good Friday!! A lot of people in this world don’t quite understand how, with all that’s happened in the past few months, and all that consumes the news media and national headlines…how can anyone think that this Friday, like every other day we’ve experienced recently, could be labeled “Good.” But, a lot of people don’t have a clear understanding of why we so look forward to “Good Friday.” This is the day we remember our freedom from the grip of sin that has tried to control our lives and drag us away from God’s promise of a personal relationship and an eternity with Him. This is a day for all believers; all followers of Jesus to turn their hearts and minds to praising God for His ultimate gift of grace through Jesus’ death on the cross. It’s a day for us all to pause and thank Him for the love He showed us on the cross. It’s a day we should never take lightly, because this is a day that would change our life forever.

On a personal note, this “Good Friday” comes at the end of what I would call a “Good Week” for Lake Community Church. Last Sunday we gathered online to experience Palm Sunday; Jesus’ triumphant entrance into Jerusalem at the beginning of Holy Week. On Monday, your generosity made it possible for Lake Community Church to provide free groceries to students of Morgan Elementary School, and even some groceries to Nazareth Children’s Home. (You see, the church may not be meeting, but we are still reaching our community with God’s love) Thank you to everyone who helped with donations on top of what was purchased for this Outreach Project. And, thank you all for the prayers as we continue to do all we can to let the love of God shine through The Lake.

As the week moved along, many of you spent time in God’s Word reading about Jesus’ week after Palm Sunday; teaching in the Temple and sparring with the religious leaders of the day. Thursday evening, Lake Online presented a Maundy Thursday event, complete with worship and the Lord’s Supper. Tonight is another opportunity for us all to join together online to remember the events of “Good Friday.” I do hope you will be joining us for this special night of worship and remembering. It all begins at 7:00pm tonight. Follow this link: mylake.church and click on Lake Church Facebook Livestream.
