Still trying to make sense of all that’s going on in the world these days? Still trying to decide who or what to believe? Still hoping for things to begin to make a little more sense? Aren’t we all?
It has become so easy to forget what day it is; especially when each day looks so much alike. I can see how people get so depressed with having to refrain from doing things that have always made each day a little different than the last, but there is a better day coming. And, it’s not so much the day that NC re-opens (which will be good in and of itself), or when we can go back to restaurants and eat with friends, or when we can get our hair cut, or find plenty of toilet paper. The better day is within us; each of us. What we need to do is seek it out.
Every day is a gift from God. His mercies are new every morning. Lamentations 3:22-23(NIV) Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.
Do you see what it says right there at the start… Because of the “Lord’s great love” we are not consumed. We, as followers of Jesus, children of God, are not consumed; not gripped by fear; Not Afraid, because of God’s great love for us. It also means we don’t have to live each day like a personal “Groundhog’s Day”. We are not to be consumed, trapped by all that’s going wrong around us. God is faithful to give us a new day filled with His mercy, His compassion. And, with each new day we’ve been given, we need to be living it to the fullest for God’s glory. As we learned last Sunday… with faithful works, loving deeds, and enduring hope. Those three marks of a “contagious Christian” are hard to find in the hum-drum of the everyday… unless we seek God everyday. “But seek first (each morning) the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things (faithful works, loving deeds, enduring hope) will be added to you.” (Matthew 6:33 ESV)
Do we want to live each day better than the last? Seek the better day.
Seek and you will find.

This Sunday morning, Live Online at 10:00am is week 3 of “Not Afraid.” With all the challenges we face each day with mandates and restriction due to the coronavirus, each day can feel like a lifetime. But, we have the promises of God, that as a follower of Jesus, a child of God, we will live by faith and not fear; we will be contagious with the hope of Jesus this world needs, and this week, a closer, more personal look at how we do all this; how do we trust God when it feels like we’re alone and afraid; the only one dealing with the struggle. Should be an interesting journey in God’s Word this Sunday. I pray you can join us this Sunday at 10:00am for week 3 of “Not Afraid” as we gather together “Online“; and, be sure to Share our gathering on your own social media page; inviting your family and friends to join in with our time of worship.

Simply click on the Tab, Lake Church Online; choose Lake Kids, and select your child’s age group; Pre-K or K-5 and you have access to all the games, stories, and videos any day during the week.
