This past week, and last week as well, I have tried to make sure we thank those who are doing so much for others during this pandemic. We have thanked all our frontline warriors in the medical field as they face the coronavirus head-on everyday. They put in endless hours, sacrificing time with their families to care for the loved ones of other families stricken by this virus. We have also drawn attention to those in the education arena, who’ve had to think of creative ways to not only teach their students, but stay connected to their students through an interrupted school year. All these folks; nurses, doctors, teachers, etc. deserve our gratitude and prayers on a daily basis. And, I pray they all know how much they are appreciated and loved by everyone at Lake Community Church.
I also want to include every fire-fighter, police officer, first-responder, and EMT’s who serve their community every single day. Your service to put others first, to keep people safe, and to care for those in need is recognized and applauded. Thank you all for giving of yourself to make our lives better.
And, on a personal note, could I ask Lake Community Church to pray for Sue, Eric, Amanda, and Matt. They have made so many adjustments to their schedules and life-styles to make sure our Lake Kids, Lake Students, Worship and Production (especially our Online services), and our finances are taken care of; sometimes from home. I don’t think I thank them enough for all they do, but they are also among a list of heroes to me.
This Sunday is Mother’s Day! I know this, because it is on my calendar. It has been pretty easy to forget what day it is from time to time lately; or, should I say from day to day. But, Mother’s Day is set aside for us to remember our moms; to create a card; to plan a get-together (maybe not this time); to make a call; to say “I love you”; and, to remember their love for us. I pray this Mother’s Day; even though it may be difficult to do what we had hoped to do…I pray this day will still be as special as you’d hoped it would be.
May we all stay focused on God’s call for our life; to strive even more to become who He has called us to be…His child; His light in this world; His hands and feet to this world; His love to this world.
Thank you to everyone who continues to support The Lake financially with your tithes and offerings through our online giving tab. If you have never really tried to give online, then during this season of social-distancing-church-attendance, why not give it a try. You can Give Online at mylake.church. You can do a one-time gift, or setup a recurring draft from your bank account. Your first step is to click on the blue circle in the lower right corner of our website, and follow the instructions. (Just like the one pictured above) It’s quick and it’s simple. You’ll receive a confirmation email for all transactions. You can also still make your contribution, tithe, or offering by texting your gift to 84321 on your smartphone; enter an amount; choose Lake Community Church, and you’re on your way. Follow any of those directions and continue to support Lake Community Church through this season. And, you can still mail your tithe, or offering to Lake Community Church, 7800 Bringle Ferry Rd. Salisbury, NC 28146. I mean, you can even drop by the church (T-F) if you just need someone to talk to. 🙂
Upcoming events at The Lake:
This Sunday morning is the final week of “Not Afraid.” We have been on this journey of how to respond to life governed by restrictions and “social distancing” for the past three weeks, and now our journey begins to come to a close. What do we do when the anxiety, the fear, the uncertainty of the unknown consumes us to the point of total despair? What do we do when we feel as though everyday is an emotional, physical, and even mental attack on our being? We look into God’s Word for help. And sometimes, we may find that help in an old familiar passage we’ve read many times before. Join us this Sunday at 10:00am at Lake Live Online. Remember to Share our gathering on your own social media page; inviting your family and friends to join in with our time of worship.
