August at The Lake is going out with some really cool new things happening! Last Wednesday evening, The Lake offered it’s first-ever College Coffee Night; an evening set aside for college-age adults to, of course drink coffee, but more importantly connect outside of Sunday mornings. Eric and Aubrey Doane are spearheading this new venture for Lake Community Church, and are excited to be able to provide an evening where college students can come together, read Scripture, do a study, and get to know one another in a relaxed atmosphere. They are beginning their Coffee Night journey together with a study from Travis Agnew’s, “Freshman 15”. I ask everyone at The Lake to be praying for this new gathering for college-aged students. If you have any questions about the College Coffee Night, or would like more information, contact Eric Doane at email@example.com.
And, the last two Sundays of August have been set up as a challenge to all believers to examine their life and ask themselves, “Is My Belief Believable?” Honestly answering this question will provide a great foundation as we enter into the last four months of 2019. I pray you accept this challenge as we move forward in preparations for 2020 @ The Lake.
And one more thing…as we begin to finish off August and prepare for September, our Lake Connection Groups will begin to take center-stage as the process for connecting with others here at The Lake. A few of our current Groups continued to meet throughout the summer, while others took a summer break, but the time for joining a Connection Group is fast approaching. I encourage everyone to be on the lookout for new information about openings in established Groups, and the formation of new Groups.
Our Connection Groups meet throughout the week at various times and locations. I am sure there will be a Group that will fit your stage of life in your journey as a follower of Jesus. For more information about The Lake Connection Groups Fall Semester, please contact Eric Doane at firstname.lastname@example.org. Interested in joining, or possibly leading a Connection Group; same email.
Upcoming events at The Lake:
“Is My Belief Believable?”
This Sunday at The Lake, at both the 9:30 and 11:00am Worship Gatherings, we will continue to explore the answer to, “Is My Belief believable?” Are there times in our life, as a follower of Jesus, we do something, say something, act a certain way that could cause someone to question who we have told them we are; a child of God? Do we fully understand the impact our life has on others, or how our choices can be seen as disobedience to God’s call on our life. These answers from “Is My Belief Believable?” could quite possibly be a turning point in a Christ-follower’s life.
This coming Wednesday evening at The Lake, our Lake Students will continue their study, “The Moral of The Story”; taking a closer look at the parables of Jesus. If you are a Middle School or High School student, you will want to do all you can to be a part Lake Students on Wednesdays at 6:30pm! And, don’t forget about the $100 discount for registering early for M-Fuge 2020! Find out more about Lake Students on their website: thelakestudents.com and/or contact Eric Doane.
Our pre-school children continue their lessons from, “Everybody’s Welcome” this Sunday. They will be learning that “God welcomes everybody in the whole wide world.” Their Bible verse comes from 1 Timothy 3:15(NIRV) “…the family of God is the church…” Our elementary aged Lake Kids are in their 4th week of, “Who’s The Church?” This week will focus on “Fishermen.” Their memory Bible verse this Sunday is Mark 1:17(NIV) ”Come, follow me,” Jesus said, ”and I will send you out to fish for people.” (Parents, be sure to follow your child’s lessons on the Bible App for Kids.)
There are so many ways you can become “Difference Makers” at The Lake; so many opportunities. Lake Kids; Lake Students; Guest Services; Worship; Production; Facilities. All of these Ministries are continually welcoming new Team member each week. If you would like to become a “Difference Maker”, I encourage you to contact the church office (980-643-4200), go through our website (thelake.church), or use our new Church Center App to join a Team and begin making a difference in the lives of others.
