Lake Advisory 9/18/2020

This Sunday we celebrate 6 years as Lake Community Church. Can you believe it’s been 6 years?! It seems like only yesterday we were facing an uncertain path, a clouded vision of what’s next. But God, through the prayers and faithfulness of His people, used the uncertainty to challenge us to take a step of faith; to trust His guidance and His leading as we move forward, and He has been true to His promise. He has used His church to do so many incredible things in people’s lives, in the community, across North Carolina, and around the world. We have experienced 6 years together as a family of believers focused on doing all we can share the love of Jesus to others through our Worship Gatherings on Sunday mornings (live and online), Connection Groups during the week, Lake Kids on Sundays, and Lake Students on Wednesday evenings.

The Lake has continued to be a part of local and foreign ministries by making dedicated contributions to help in their sharing the love of Jesus; the Baptist Children’s Homes, the Terrie Hess House, the Pregnancy Support Center, Capstone Women’s Ministry, Nazareth Children’s Home, Morgan Elementary School, Miller’s Ferry and Liberty VFD, and the Mushayamunda Christian Development Trust in Zimbabwe, Africa. We have participated in Outreach Mission Projects; Red Box Mission, Operation Christmas Child, Easter Egg Hunts, Trunks O’ Treatz, Lake Kids Bible Camp, M-Fuge, and some short-term mission trips.

God has done so much in the past 6 years through The Lake and it is with an excited anticipation we should be looking ahead to what He may have in store for us yet. May we continue to do all we can to share the love of Jesus and bring glory to God as His church.

Looking forward to worshipping with you this Sunday at The Lake and Live Online at

Here’s a simple reminder…For the remainder of the month of September, 2 more Sundays, our Women on Missions Group is sponsoring the Red Box Outreach Project. This church-wide Project will impact the lives of women currently in our NC Women’s Correctional Facilities. This year’s donated item: Deodorants. They are requesting Travel-size; roll-on or solid deodorants; 2.0-3.5 oz. size. There are two collection tubs located just inside the main entrance double-doors. You may bring your donations and place them in those tubs on Sunday mornings, or you can come by The Lake and drop off your donated items, T-F, between 9:30am and 4:30pm. Our Women On Missions Group would like to thank you all in advance for your willingness to be a part of this year’s Red Box Outreach Project.

Let me just add this…Carole Lowman and Terrie Powles pretty much organize these Outreach Mission Projects through the Women on Missions Group, and they’ve been very active in helping The Lake help others for the past few years. This past Monday evening, Carole Lowman was recognized for her 16 years of service to the Rowan Southern Baptist Association as Secretary of their large meetings during the year. 16 years of service. Join me in thanking Carole for a job well done.

Upcoming events at The Lake:

“Psalm 23”
We continue our current teaching series in Psalm 23 this Sunday morning at 9:30 and 11:00am. I believe we learned so much last Sunday in the first verse of this Psalm, many of you are so ready to find out what else is shared by David when he wrote this Psalm. In the first verse we learned about the importance of the relationship between us and God, and this Sunday, we begin to understand some of the results of this relationship in our everyday life. What does our shepherd do for us…each day? I do hope you can join us this Sunday, In-person or Online at Lake Live Online.

Actually, two showings (because of the 50% capacity mandate); 4:00pm and 6:30pm. You will be able to reserve seats for a specific showing starting next week.
